Mesut Ozil has praised Arsenal for grinding out a 1-0 win against West Brom at the Emirates Stadium on Boxing Day.

Arsene Wenger’s side were under pressure to make a swift return to winning ways after Arsenal’s two-game losing run in the Premier League.

The Gunners lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park before a 2-1 defeat by title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their last away game.

However, Arsenal struggled to find a way past Tony Pulis’ resilient West Brom defence in their Boxing Day clash.

But Ozil’s cross teed up France international Olivier Giroud to score the home side’s winner with four minutes remaining in north London.

Arsenal hoisted themselves up to third place in the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City’s clash against Hull City.

Ozil posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:

“Phew! What a hard match today. ⚽ Happy we found back to winning ways and unboxed those 3 crucial points 👍😉 #YaGunnersYa #boxingday #BetterLateThanNever @arsenal”

Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title in 2003-04.

The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League table.
