Michael Carrick admits he still loves the feeling of last-minute winners after Manchester United’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils appeared to be coasting towards three points after world-record signing Paul Pogba broke the deadlock in the first half at Selhurst Park despite the midfielder being in an apparent offside position.
Scotland international James McArthur levelled in the second half to leave Manchester United facing the prospect of succumbing to another 1-1 stalemate in south east London.
However, summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted his ninth Premier League goal of the 2016-17 season thanks to a clinical finish with minutes remaining on Wednesday night.
And Carrick, who has won five Premier League titles during his decorated Old Trafford career, took to Instagram to reflect on Manchester United’s last-gasp win.
Carrick wrote: “Love late winners. Great feeling. Important 3 points that was.
Thanks for the support. That made the trip worthwhile eh 👍🏼”
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City after 16 games.
The Red Devils will host West Brom in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon.
