Photos: Key Arsenal duo return to training ahead of Basel test

Hector Bellerin and Per Mertesacker were both in Arsenal training this morning ahead of Tuesday's clash with FC Basel

Both Per Mertesacker and Hector Bellerin looked to be in good shape as they trained with their Arsenal team-mates on Monday morning ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with FC Basel.

Mertesacker has not featured at all for Arsenal so far this season after missing the start of the campaign with a knee injury.

It was Mertesacker’s absence which prompted Arsene Wenger to dip into the summer transfer market and bring in defender Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia.

Bellerin, meanwhile, has been sidelined with an ankle injury since picking up the problem late on during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham last month.

However, both defenders were pictured in action at London Colney on Monday morning as they both close in on their respective comebacks.

It is not clear exactly when the duo will make their returns to the first team.

Here are some of the best pictures from Arsenal’s latest training session.
