Pundit’s message for Man United: Forget about catching Chelsea in the title race
Dean Saunders doesn't envisage Manchester United catching Chelsea in the title race
Dean Saunders has rubbished talk of Manchester United catching Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
The Red Devils recorded their fourth successive Premier League win on Boxing Day thanks to a 3-1 win against strugglers Sunderland at Old Trafford.
Daley Blind broke the deadlock in the first half before goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan after half-time in the Premier League clash.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were resounding 3-0 winners against Bournemouth after Pedro Rodriguez netter either side of half-time and Eden Hazard scored from the penalty spot.
The Blues are sitting six points clear of their closest rivals Liverpool in the Premier League title race after their 12th successive Premier League win.
Antonio Conte’s side are a further 13 points ahead of Manchester United, who are in sixth place in the Premier League table.
Former Liverpool striker Saunders has poured cold water on talk of Manchester United catching Chelsea in the title race.
“I think they are too far ahead. I don’t think Manchester can catch them because of the way Chelsea are playing and how good they are. They’re not conceding goals and they look deadly going forward,” Saunders told Sky Sports News HQ.
