Ray Parlour: These two Man United signings hold the key to catching Chelsea
The Arsenal legend highlights the importance of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba to Man United
Ray Parlour believes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba have a vital role to play if Manchester United are going to catch Chelsea in the title race.
Jose Mourinho made Ibrahimovic his second signing in the summer transfer window after the 35-year-old centre-forward in a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The new Manchester United manager made Pogba the world’s most-expensive signing after the midfielder completed an £89m transfer from Serie A champions Juventus.
Ibrahimovic scored in Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Sunderland as the former Sweden international took his tally to 12 goals in 18 Premier League games.
Pogba, meanwhile, has set up Ibrahimovic for his last three Premier League assists to help the Red Devils ease to build a four-game winning run in the top flight.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ after the Boxing Day results in the Premier League, former Arsenal midfielder Parlour claimed that Ibrahimovic and Pogba hold the key to Manchester United’s title chances.
“Sometimes it does take players time to get into the Premier League. It is difficult and tougher,” Parlour said.
“These two now are going to be so important if Manchester United are going to catch Chelsea.”
