Ray Parlour: This Chelsea midfielder is thriving under Antonio Conte
The Arsenal legend heaps praise on Chelsea's in-form midfielder Pedro
Ray Parlour has hailed Pedro Rodriguez’s improvement under new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
The Spain international scored Chelsea’s equaliser in a 2-1 victory over title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
Pedro has scored three goals and has made five assists in 12 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season so far.
The former Barcelona man has already bettered his goal tally from his first campaign in the English top flight under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink.
Pedro moved to the west London side in a £21m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in 2015 as Mourinho looked to improve his title-winning squad.
However, former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes the World Cup winner has found his feet at Chelsea thanks to Conte’s 3-4-3 formation.
“Pedro appears to have found his form with the new system they’re playing. He came from Barcelona, he didn’t hit the ground running when he came to Chelsea. Now he has got his opportunity,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
Chelsea are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and a point ahead of Liverpool in second place.
The Blues make the trip to title rivals Manchester City in their next Premier League game at The Etihad on Saturday.
