Ray Parlour: This Man United signing was a no brainer

The Arsenal legend is a big fan of Manchester United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Ray Parlour has hailed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a no-brainer signing for Manchester United after the centre-forward’s excellent start to his Old Trafford campaign.

The Red Devils signed the 35-year-old striker in a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window following the appointment of his ex Inter Milan boss as Manchester United manager.

Ibrahimovic scored four times in his opening three competitive games before enduring something of a goal drought during the end of September and October.

However, the former Barcelona striker has since scored 11 times in his last 10 games, including the club’s second goal in a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ after Manchester United’s fourth successive Premier League win on Boxing Day, Parlour ousted himself as a huge fan of Ibrahimovic.

“Ibrahimovic – what a player! He’s 35 and has so much experience. What a signing,” Parlour said.

“When they said they were going to sign him in the summer, it was a no brainer for Manchester United on a free transfer. With his quality and experience, it was a no brainer.”

Ibrahimovic has netted 12 times in 17 Premier League games in the 2016-17 season following his summer move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United will host Middlesbrough in their next top-flight fixture at Old Trafford on New Year’s Eve.
