Ray Parlour’s response when asked if Man United can catch Chelsea in title race

The Arsenal legend doesn't expect Manchester United to catch Chelsea in the title race

Manchester United will find it very tough to catch Chelsea in the Premier League title race, according to Arsenal legend Ray Parlour.

The Red Devils recorded their fourth successive Premier League win on Boxing Day thanks to a 3-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.

Daley Blind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all got on the score sheet to help fire the Red Devils to a crucial win in the top-four race.

Manchester United are still 13 points behind leaders Chelsea after 18 games after Antonio Conte’s side recorded their 12th successive Premier League win.

Chelsea were 3-0 winners against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge after goals from Pedro Rodriguez either side of half-time and Eden Hazard’s penalty.

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour poured cold water on talk of the Manchester side catching the current Premier League leaders in the title race.

“It will be very tough for them now. They’ve got to have to believe it. They have to hope they do have a blip and that’s when Manchester United need to take advantage,” Parlour told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I think they’re too far out. They’ve got the Europa League to look at as well. Top four – they’ve every possibility. Two or three games ago, you thought they might struggle to get in the top four, but he has them playing really well now. The important players have to stay fit.”

Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season.

The Red Devils haven’t won the title since 2013.
