Ray Wilkins tells Chelsea to make this signing in the January transfer window
Ray Wilkins feels that Chelsea should make a move to try and sign a new striker in the January transfer window
Ray Wilkins believes that Chelsea need to bring in a new centre-forward during the summer transfer window.
The Blues have made a very strong start to the new season and currently lead the way at the top of the Premier League table after 14 games.
The west London side underlined their status as genuine contenders for the title when they came from a goal down to beat Manchester City 3-1 at The Etihad last weekend.
Chelsea are currently three points clear at the top of the table as they look to win the title following their disastrous 10th-placed finish last season.
Diego Costa has been in superb form for the Blues this season, but former Chelsea man Wilkins feels that Antonio Conte should look to bring in another forward to bolster his attacking options.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday, Wilkins said: “They need another centre forward for sure and they should try and rectify that during the window, but the fact that they have not got European football is also a big factor in their favour no question about that.
“I was out at Cobham (Chelsea training ground) on Tuesday and Gary Cahill was having a coffee saying ‘I’ve got a day off Ray.’ The other players with the big guns can’t have a day off, they are seven days a week now.”
Chelsea are preparing for their home clash against West Brom at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
