Rio Ferdinand sends blunt warning to Arsenal about Alexis Sanchez
Rio Ferdinand says Alexis Sanchez has the right to be made the highest paid player at Arsenal
Rio Ferdinand has warned Arsenal that they could have no complaints if Alexis Sanchez demanded to be the highest-paid player at the club following his performance for the Gunners at West Ham.
The Chile international was in scintillating form as he scored a second-half hat-trick to help Arsenal record back to back wins in the Premier League and keep them to within three points of leaders Chelsea.
Sanchez has now scored 11 goals and made four assists in the Premier League for Arsene Wenger’s men as he underlines his importance to the club.
The 27-year-old is currently believed to be in talks with the north London club about extending his contract beyond 2018.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand feels that Sanchez has the right to demand a significant pay rise given his importance to the club.
Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Ferdinand said: “If he says that he wants to be the top paid player player at the club, they can’t argue. He’s indispensable.”
Arsenal take on FC Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
