Robbie Savage delivers blunt verdict on Jose Mourinho’s Man United centre-halves
The former Manchester United midfielder isn't a fan of the Phil Jones-Marcos Rojo centre-half combination
Robbie Savage has warned Jose Mourinho that Manchester United won’t win the Premier League title with Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
The Red Devils started the England international and Argentina defender as their centre-half partnership for their trip to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
Rojo was fortunate to escape a straight red card after a two-footed tackle on Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye in the first half of the clash on Merseyside.
Manchester United drew 1-1 with Everton after Leighton Baines’ 89th-minute penalty cancelled out Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first-half opener.
Jones and Rojo has been deputising at centre-half in the absence of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling due to injury.
However, former Manchester United midfielder Savage doesn’t believes the Jones-Rojo combination is good enough to help the Red Devils win the Premier League crown.
“I don’t think you can win the Premier League with the partnership of Rojo and Phil Jones. Rojo is the weak link in that defence,” Savage told BBC Sport.
Bailly returned to the bench for Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Everton after he suffered a serious knee injury during a 4-0 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October.
