Robbie Savage: This is the team Man United will face in the Europa League final

Robbie Savage believes that Manchester United could face Tottenham in the Europa League final

Robbie Savage has backed Manchester United to reach the Europa League final this season – and reckons the Red Devils could take on Tottenham in May.

The Red Devils secured their place in the last 32 of Europe’s second tier club competition on Thursday night thanks to their 2-0 win over Zorya.

United have been struggling in the Premier League in recent weeks since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.

Their stuttering form in the top flight has prompted suggestions that the Red Devils may struggle to finish in the top four this season.

That means that winning the Europa League could be their best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

And Savage feels that United could be on course to take on Tottenham in the final in May.

Writing in his column for The Daily Mirror, Savage said: I’m beginning to wonder if United’s game with Spurs at Old Trafford this weekend might prove to be a dress rehearsal for the Europa League final.

“Like Tottenham, they may have to win the Europa League to get back in the Champions League mainstream next season.

“But with Paul Pogba looking much brighter, Eric Bailly’s return to fitness and Henrikh Mkhitaryan beginning to hit his stride, United have nothing to fear in Europe.”
