Robbie Savage’s response when asked if Man United can catch Chelsea in the title race
The BBC pundit rules out Manchester United catching Chelsea in the title race
Robbie Savage has poured cold water on talk of Manchester United catching Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
The Red Devils have won their last four Premier League games following successive victories over Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland.
Indeed, Manchester United were 3-1 winners against the Black Cats thanks to goals from Daley Blind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho’s side were previously ruled out of the title race by a number of ex-professionals after a run of two wins in 11 top-flight games but Manchester United have kick-started their campaign in recent weeks.
Although the Red Devils are 13 points adrift of leaders Chelsea, there has been talk of Manchester United catching Mourinho’s former employers should they slip up in the title race.
Speaking on BBC’s 606 podcast on Monday night after the Boxing Day fixtures in the Premier League, Savage ruled out the prospect of Manchester United winning the title.
“I can’t see Manchester United making up 13 points on Chelsea,” Savage said.
