Roy Keane delivers honest verdict on Mesut Ozil’s current Arsenal form

The Manchester United legend has some rare praise for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil

Roy Keane has admitted that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been in a rich vein of form in recent weeks.

The Germany international helped Arsenal secure top spot in Champions League Group A on Tuesday night thanks to a 4-1 victory over Basel in Switzerland as Lucas Perez netted a hat-trick.

Ozil scored his fourth Premier League goal of the 2016-17 season as he helped Arsene Wenger’s side ease to a commanding 5-1 win against struggling West Ham United at the London Stadium last weekend.

The World Cup winner has now scored five times and has made two assists in his opening 15 Premier League games of the current campaign, as he netted Arsenal’s second goal in their 3-1 win over Stoke on Saturday.

Ozil has also netted four times and has made three assists in the Champions League this term as Wenger’s men look to reach the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time since 2010.

Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, former Manchester United captain Keane praised Ozil for his recent performances: “He has a bit of everything and obviously he’s in great form.

“The difference with the really top players is their decision making, the awareness of what’s around. The pace on the pass [for Iwobi’s goal in Basel is perfect].”
