Roy Keane issues blunt advice to Alexis Sanchez about his Arsenal future
Roy Keane delivers his verdict on Alexis Sanchez's future at Arsenal beyond 2018
Roy Keane has suggested that Alexis Sanchez should weigh up all of his options before deciding whether to commit his future to Arsenal – but told him not to be led by money.
The Chile international has been in superb form for Arsenal this season and has earned plenty of praise for his displays in recent weeks.
Sanchez hit a hat-trick in last weekend’s 5-1 win over West Ham United to further underline his importance to the north London club.
Both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil currently have 18 months left on their Arsenal deals, with both players thought to be in negotiations about extending their contracts at The Emirates.
Sanchez and Ozil are likely to want a significant wage increase as they negotiate one of the final major contracts of their careers.
And former Manchester United captain Keane has offered his advice to the duo as the negotiations continue.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, Keane said: “Surely it isn’t just about the money with these players?
“I think they’ll be looking at whether their club is capable of going on to win trophies in the next few years.
“Arsene Wenger’s contract’s up in the summer – will that come into the equation? Money, obviously no doubt, but it wouldn’t be only about money.”
