Roy Keane: This is what I think about Lucas Perez at Arsenal

Roy Keane admits he was very impressed by Lucas Perez's performance for Arsenal against Basel

Roy Keane has admitted that he was very impressed by Lucas Perez’s performance for Arsenal against Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Spanish striker scored his first Champions League goals for the north London club as he hit an impressive hat-trick as Arsenal secured a thumping 4-1 victory over their Swiss opponents to win their group.

Perez has seen his first-team opportunities at Arsenal restricted since his arrival in the summer transfer window from Deportivo La Coruna.

The forward has spent a large portion of his first few months at the club sidelined with injury, but proved his worth to the Gunners with three goals in 39 minutes against Basel.

And former Manchester United captain Keane was very impressed by what he saw from Perez and the whole Arsenal team on Tuesday night.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Keane said: “They’re good tap-ins because the movement before them was excellent. You’ve got to be there to score them.

“It’s great for Perez’s confidence and great for Arsenal all round.

“Arsenal were very, very good. When you give Arsenal time and space on the ball they’re as good as any team. They were a joy to watch on Tuesday.

“To score four goals away from home in a Champions League game is never easy.”
