Ray Wilkins states prediction for Arsenal v West Brom

Ray Wilkins is backing Arsenal to ease to victory over West Brom at The Emirates on Boxing Day.

The Gunners have endured a tough couple of weeks after Arsene Wenger’s side suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats to leave their title challenge in tatters.

Arsenal lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park last week before the north London side suffered a 2-1 defeat by title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend.

Wenger’s men are nine points adrift of leaders Chelsea after Antonio Conte’s men were 1-0 winners against Crystal Palace to move further clear of their London rivals at the top of the table.

But former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Wilkins is backing Arsenal to secure a much-needed three points against the Baggies at the Emirates Stadium.

“There is never a good time to go there. They’re smarting after two defeats,” Wilkins told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.

“They’re struggling, Arsenal. It’s a tough game for them as well. I saw West Brom at Stamford Bridge and they were very good. They were unfortunate to come away with nothing.

“I just feel Arsenal will overpower them. If West Brom can survive the first 20 minutes, they might have half a chance.”

Arsenal finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but 10 points adrift of champions Leicester City.

The Gunners went 14 games unbeaten in the Premier League before their 2-1 loss at Everton.
