Michael Owen states his prediction for Southampton v Tottenham
Michael Owen looks ahead to Tottenham's trip to Southampton in the Premier League on 28 December
Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham to keep up their push for a top-four finish by beating Southampton at St Mary’s next week.
The Lilywhites are preparing for their trip to the south coast on Wednesday night as they look to keep pace with the teams above them in the Premier League table.
Tottenham are currently in fifth place in the top-flight table and one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal heading into the first round of festive fixtures.
Former Liverpool striker Owen is tipping the Lilywhites to claim all three points against the Saints at St Mary’s on Wednesday night.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino may have to be patient on his return to St Mary’s, but I think the visitors can take the points in what promises to be a cracking contest.
“The Saints haven’t conceded at home in the Premier League for over five hours but that proud record is likely to go against a Spurs side who certainly have goals in their locker.”
Tottenham are looking to go one step further than they did last season, when they ended up in third place in the Premier League table despite being Leicester City’s closest challengers for much of the campaign.
The Lilywhites qualified for this season’s Champions League but failed to navigate their way out of the group stage.
