Ian Wright states prediction for Southampton v Tottenham

The former Arsenal striker says Tottenham Hotspur will beat Southampton on Wednesday evening

Ian Wright is confident Tottenham Hotspur will beat Southampton on Wednesday evening despite the Saints’ impressive record at St Mary’s this season.

The north London side have injected life into their stalling top-four bid in recent weeks thanks to successive Premier League victories ahead of Christmas Day.

Tottenham were 3-0 winners against strugglers Swansea City thanks to Christian Eriksen’s impressive brace and Victor Wanyama’s second goal of the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side edged to a 2-1 win against Sean Dyche’s promoted Burnley in their most-recent home fixture at White Hart Lane.

Southampton are unbeaten in their last three Premier League games and have only lost current leaders Chelsea at St Mary’s this term.

Former Arsenal striker Wright doesn’t expect Spurs to drop any points against Southampton at St Mary’s on Tuesday evening – though.

“I think they’ll beat Southampton,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.

Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season behind champions Leicester City and Arsenal.
