Steven Gerrard delivers his verdict on Arsenal: This has impressed me

Steven Gerrard admits that he was impressed by Arsenal's performance against Basel on Tuesday night

Steven Gerrard has admitted that he was impressed to see Arsenal top their Champions League group with a 4-1 win at Basel on Tuesday night.

The Gunners continued their strong start to the season as Lucas Perez scored a hat-trick to help Arsene Wenger’s men book their place as group winners following PSG’s surprise 2-2 draw with Ludogorets in Paris.

Arsenal have been in good form so far this season and are currently second in the Premier League table and three points behind leaders Chelsea after 14 games of the new season.

And former Liverpool captain Gerrard feels that Arsenal’s win over Basel will give Wenger’s men a boost heading into the hectic festive period in the Premier League.

Speaking on BT Sport on Tuesday night, Gerrard said: “Winning the group is good for confidence and morale.

“Credit to Arsenal, they were fantastic tonight and thoroughly deserved the win. They just had too much for Basel in the final third.

“The quality of Ozil and Sanchez… and Gibbs was very good from the left tonight.”

Arsenal will turn their attentions back to Premier League affairs on Saturday afternoon when they host Stoke City at The Emirates.
