Steven Gerrard delivers verdict on Chelsea’s Premier League title hopes

Steven Gerrard has his say on Chelsea's start to the season under new manager Antonio Conte

Steven Gerrard admits that he has been impressed by Chelsea’s form this season and says they are favourites for the title.

The Blues continued their stunning run in the Premier League on Saturday when they wrapped up a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace to make it 11 wins in a row in the Premier League.

Antonio Conte’s men have now established themselves as the firm favourites to win the title following their stunning form.

Their winning run is in stark contrast to their struggles last season, when they finished in 10th place and without a trophy in the Premier League.

And former Liverpool captain Gerrard has been very impressed by what he has seen from the Blues in recent weeks.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show on Saturday, Gerrard said: “They were 16th in the league this time last year.

“They had a group of players who weren’t playing for the manager, they weren’t turning up and producing the goods week in, week out.

“A year on, all of their big stars are on top form. The fans are happy, all of the players are smiling, they’ve got a terrific manager.

“At the moment they are looking like they are going to be champions but there are a few sides behind them that are going to give them a good run for it.”
