Steven Gerrard: This is what I love about Antonio Conte at Chelsea, he’s similar to Liverpool boss

Steven Gerrard explains what has impressed him about Antonio Conte at Chelsea this season

Steven Gerrard has heaped praise on Antonio Conte for the big impact he has had in turning Chelsea’s fortunes around this season.

The Italian coach watched his side notch up their 11th win in a row in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime when Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game in their 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace.

That win lifted Chelsea a staggering nine points clear at the top of the table ahead of Sunday’s round of fixtures.

Chelsea are looking like the team to beat in the Premier League title race this season as the west London side bounce back from their disastrous 10th-placed finish last term.

Former Liverpool captain Gerrard believes that Conte’s passionate approach has rubbed off on his players and that the Italian is now getting the best out of his squad.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Gerrard said: “He kicks every ball, he shows passion and he is one of those managers who when you do put it in for him and show him the love on the pitch, you get it back off him.

“Jurgen Klopp’s showing that with his players [too] and you get that extra bit more out of every player. It makes a big difference.”
