Steven Gerrard: What impresses me about Man United

The former Liverpool captain admits he has been impressed with Manchester United in recent weeks

Steven Gerrard admits he has been impressed with how Manchester United are managing games after their 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday evening.

The Manchester outfit managed to record a third successive Premier League victory on Saturday to bolster their top-four chances after a stuttering start to the season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic broke the deadlock with a header in the fifth minute at The Hawthorns Stadium before the former Sweden international extended their lead in the second half.

The 35-year-old centre-forward has now scored 10 times in 17 appearances in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign following his free transfer to Old Trafford from Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Manchester United have beaten Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and West Brom by one-goal margins in their last three Premier League games.

Speaking to BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, Gerrard explained what has impressed him about Manchester United’s recent run.

“They [United] are playing really, really well,” Gerrard said.

“What I was impressed with today is how they’re managing games. They went 1-0 up, dropped a bit deep and brought West Brom on to them and then used the speed and the pace on the counter-attack to kill the game off.”
