Stuart Pearce: Chelsea star is my player of the year, he’s been outstanding

Stuart Pearce heaps praise on N'Golo Kante for the impact he has had had both Chelsea and Leicester City in 2016

Stuart Pearce has singled out N’Golo Kante for special praise and says that the Chelsea midfielder has been the Premier League’s top player in 2016.

Kante earned plenty of new admirers last season as the midfielder helped Leicester City win the Premier League title under Claudio Ranieri.

His superb form for the Foxes earned him a transfer to Chelsea in the summer and Kante has continued his strong performances for the west London side.

Indeed, Kante has been a key cog in the Chelsea midfield to help the Blues move to the top of the Premier League table and establish themselves as the favourites to win the title this season.

And former Manchester City manager Pearce says that Kante has been the Premier League’s top performer during 2016.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Pearce said: “Kante has been outstanding. Not just last season but this season as well.

“He has changed clubs. When you change clubs it isn’t easy to fit in straight away. Chelsea have gone from mid-table to top of the league straightaway. This fella has a lot to do with that as well.

“For Leicester, he’s been brilliant. For Chelsea, just as good as well.”
