Theo Walcott hails Alex Iwobi after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Stoke

Theo Walcott singled out Alex Iwobi for special praise after Arsenal's 3-1 win over Stoke City at the weekend

Theo Walcott heaped praise on Alex Iwobi for his goal which put the game to bed in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Stoke City on Saturday.

Iwobi found the net for the second game running after his strike against Basel in the Champions League last week as Arsene Wenger’s men temporarily moved to the top of the Premier League table with their win over the Potters.

Walcott had levelled for Arsenal after the Gunners fell behind to Charlie Adam’s penalty at The Emirates.

Mesut Ozil had then given the north London side the lead after half-time with a header, before Iwobi added a third and secured the three points for Arsene Wenger’s men.

And Walcott was full of praise for Iwobi and also Alexis Sanchez for his contribution to the goal.

Speaking to Arsenal Player, Walcott said: “It’s going well for us at the moment.

“The use of the squad as well – I can’t praise enough the amount of players that are ready when they’re called upon.

“Obviously like Alex did today – 2-1 is not a nice sort of score at the time but he had a fantastic finish after great work from Alexis.”
