Thibaut Courtois has his say on his long-term Chelsea future

The Chelsea goalkeeper is committed to the Stamford Bridge outfit

Thibaut Courtois has insisted that he is committed to Chelsea.

The Belgium international has been in impressive form in the Premier League this season following a disappointing 2015-16 campaign at the west London club.

Chelsea won the Premier League title in Courtois’ first season as Blues number one under Jose Mourinho in 2014-15 before their tenth-place finish last term.

Courtois appeared to open the door to a potential return to La Liga in the summer after a disappointing campaign under Mourinho and his interim successor Guus Hiddink.

However, the Belgian shot stopper has produced some impressive performances under new manager Antonio Conte this term after helping to hoist the west London side to the top of the Premier League table for Christmas Day.

The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Courtois has underlined his continued commitment to the Premier League leaders.

“I think sometimes my comments didn’t come out the way I meant. I can understand [the Chelsea fans] were frustrated, but I never meant it that way,” Courtois told Evening Standard – as quoted as saying by SportsMole.

“They can clearly see that I am fully committed to this club, I want to win games and to win trophies for this club. I will do my very best for Chelsea.

“Am I in the best form of my Chelsea career? I think the first season I played very well too but with Petr [Cech] around, I think people noticed it less. I had a lot of games where I made a lot of important saves, but it went a bit unnoticed.”

Chelsea are sitting at the top of the Premier League table after a run of ten successive top-flight victories.
