Thierry Henry: My honest thoughts on Arsenal duo’s contracts

Thierry Henry has his say on the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at Arsenal...

Thierry Henry has insisted that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s futures are vital to Arsenal, but questioned the amounts of money the Gunners will be willing to pay them.

The pair are thought to be in talks with the north London side about extending their current deals beyond the summer of 2018.

There has been plenty of speculation about their futures after the pair entered into the final 18 months of their contracts at The Emirates.

Arsenal will be expected to give both players significant pay rises if they are to get them to commit their futures to the club.

However, Arsenal legend Henry feels that there is a limit to what is a reasonable amount of money to pay them.

Speaking to Sky Sports after Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City, Henry said: “At the moment those two players are vital for the future of the club.

“They have to secure that deal. But to what extent? Arsene, I don’t know if he’s going to want to pay that. I don’t know the exact numbers.

“But if they don’t sign who do they bring? What is the future? At the moment, not in a bad way, they are holding the the club hostage.

“They are amazing players – but if you get that amount of money, I want a hat-trick every weekend and even when there is no game I want a hat-trick also!”
