Thierry Henry reacts to Cesc Fabregas’ performance in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Man City
The Arsenal legend delivers his verdict on Cesc Fabregas' pass for Diego Costa's equaliser in Chelsea's 3-1 win at Man City
Thierry Henry has lavished praise on Cesc Fabregas after the midfielder’s role in Chelsea’s equaliser in their 3-1 win at Manchester City.
The Spain international was handed a starting spot in Antonio Conte’s side for the first time since a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates in September.
Fabregas filled Nemanja Matic’s void alongside summer signing N’Golo Kante as the World Cup winner made just his second start of the 2016-17 season under the new Blues manager.
The 29-year-old provided a long pass to release Diego Costa in the 60th minute and the Spain striker guided a finish past Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Former Arsenal captain Henry, who played alongside Fabregas during his Gunners career, singled out the midfielder for special praise after his world-class pass.
“This is the best pass in the game. We talk about tactics and trying to play through a midfield,” Henry told Sky Sports after Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Manchester City.
“You have to play as quick as you can forward – that beats every tactic in the world. Obviously you need to have a guy like Fabregas and a guy like Costa to make the run. He played a similar pass to Eden Hazard in the first half and that beats everything in the world.”
Chelsea have won their last eight Premier League games after victories over Hull City, Leicester City, Manchester United, Southampton, Everton, Middlesbrough, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
The Blues will host West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
