Tottenham legend questions Jose Mourinho over comments on Man United striker
Former Tottenham forward Garth Crooks delivers his verdict on Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Garth Crooks has questioned Jose Mourinho’s claim that Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in unstoppable form.
The former Sweden international scored either side of half-time to secure a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.
Ibrahimovic has scored 10 times in their last nine games in all competitions to underline his reputation as one of the world’s best strikers.
The 35-year-old striker has now found the back of the net 11 times in 16 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season.
Ibrahimovic moved to Manchester United in a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks believes Ibrahimovic is in sparkling form, although the ex-England man doesn’t quite agree with Mourinho’s comments about the Swedish centre-forward.
“So, according to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, Ibrahimovic is undroppable?” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“Well I have heard that before and the remark may come back to haunt him. In the meantime, Ibrahimovic does look in sparkling form. He is on 16 goals in all competitions already this season.”
Mourinho was appointed as Manchester United manger in May after Louis van Gaal paid the price for a fifth-place finish in 2015-16 Premier League campaign.
The Red Devils signed four players in the summer transfer window as Mourinho looked to revamp his squad.
