Tottenham legend: This Chelsea star is looking lean and mean
Garth Crooks singles out Chelsea forward Eden Hazard for special praise after Saturday's 1-0 win at Crystal Palace
Eden Hazard is looking lean and mean in the Chelsea side, says Garth Crooks.
The Belgium international helped Antonio Conte’s side to ease to a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
Diego Costa scored a first-half header to break the deadlock in south east London as the Spain international netted his 13th goal of the season.
Hazard, on the other hand, has netted eight goals and has made one assist in 17 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 term.
Chelsea have won their last 11 Premier League games to leave Antonio Conte’s side well clear at the top of the table.
Writing in his BBC Sport column ahead of Chelsea’s home clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day, Crooks talked up Hazard’s performance at Palace.
“Eden Hazard, meanwhile, is looking lean and mean at the moment, a player at the top of his game,” Crooks said.
“He is showing the kind of awareness that won him the PFA Player of the Year. He goes past players for fun and can deliver the killer pass. So why did Palace give him so much time and space to wreak such havoc in their ranks? Fear, I suspect.”
Hazard moved to Chelsea from Ligue 1 side Lille in the 2012 summer transfer window.
Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League table last term after a disappointing defence of their top-flight crown.
