Tottenham legend: What I adore about Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois
Garth Crooks explains why he is a massive fan of Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois
Garth Crooks says he is a big admirer of Chelsea’s no-nonsense goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgium international was in fine form on Sunday afternoon after the Blues shot stopper made a number of good saves from Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Manchester City.
Gary Cahill’s own goal managed to beat the Chelsea number one but Courtois was otherwise imperious as Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard scored second-half goals to seal three points at The Etihad.
Courtois has managed to keep six clean sheets in his last eight Premier League games to help Chelsea record a maximum 24 points since a 3-0 loss to Arsenal in September.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks revealed what he particularly adores about the Chelsea goalkeeper after the Blues moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
“What I adore about Courtois is there are no dramas with him and he always turns up for the big games,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“Making the save is all that matters to him. He doesn’t behave like a star insisting on being beautifully groomed with his attire perfectly positioned.
“In fact he looks rather ungainly – sporting his preppy hairstyle – but who cares? He’s proving to be one hell of a goalkeeper.”
Chelsea will host West Brom in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues have scored 22 goals and have kept six clean sheets in their last eight top-flight games.
