Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Tottenham v Burnley

The former Liverpool defender is expecting Tottenham Hotspur to ease to another comfortable victory over Burnley

Mark Lawrenson is confident Tottenham Hotspur will ease to another comfortable victory when Spurs take on Burnley at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites bounced back from a 1-0 loss to top-four rivals Manchester United last weekend with a commanding 3-0 victory over Hull City at White Hart Lane.

Christian Eriksen scored twice and Victor Wanyama netted a late tap-in to secure three points for the north London side against Mike Phelan’s men in north London.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to secure a place in next season’s Champions League competition.

Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is confident that Spurs can keep up the pressure on the top four with another emphatic win against Burnley.

“Burnley’s form has not got any better of late, and they still only have one goal on the road this season,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“We are getting to the stage where I am thinking the score will be ‘Burnley 0’ whenever they are away from home.

“Tottenham were decent against Manchester United without offering much of a threat, but they were too strong for Hull in midweek and I am expecting a similar outcome on Sunday.”

Sean Dyche’s side lost 1-0 to West Ham United at the London Stadium on Wednesday night after having beaten Bournemouth 3-2 at Turf Moor last weekend.

Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season.
