Mark Lawrenson states prediction for Tottenham v Hull
The BBC Sport pundit doesn't expect Tottenham Hotspur to drop points against Hull City on Wednesday night
Mark Lawrenson says he doesn’t expect Tottenham Hotspur to slip up against struggling Hull City at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.
The Lilywhites suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon after Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan netted a first-half winner against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Spurs missed the chance to move to within three points of fourth-placed Manchester City after the Citizens lost 4-2 to defending Premier League champions Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
Tottenham have endured a stuttering run of form over the past couple of months after winning just two of their last seven Premier League games since a 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side at White Hart Lane in early October.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is confident that the Merseyside outfit can return to winning ways in the Premier League at Hull this weekend.
“Tottenham are clearly a good side but there is a ‘but’ and the but is there are a lot of games when they are ordinary and they don’t have a cutting edge,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“This should not be one of them. Hull got something out of their topsy-turvy game against Crystal Palace at the weekend but they let opposing teams have a lot of chances.”
Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season behind champions Leicester City and Arsenal.
