Paul Merson predicts outcome of Tottenham v Hull

The former Arsenal midfielder is backing Tottenham Hotspur to ease to victory over struggling Hull City

Paul Merson has warned Tottenham Hotspur that Spurs are facing a must-win game against Hull City at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night.

The north London side suffered a 1-0 loss to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United side at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon after Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a first-half winner.

Tottenham have only managed to win two of their last eight Premier League games since their impressive 2-0 victory over title rivals Manchester City at White Hart Lane in October.

The Lilywhites have managed to find some resemblance of form since Harry Kane’s return to the Tottenham side from injury last month.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing Tottenham to beat Hull at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night and give their top-four prospects a boost.

“If you look at the games that the rest of the top six have in midweek, then Tottenham need to win. They have the easiest game out of everybody and I think they will get the three points,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They were OK against United, just OK. At times they got into positions where they should have been better. They have to win these games to stay around the top four.”

Tottenham finished in third place in the Premier League table last season after challenging Leicester City for the title throughout much of the 2016-17 campaign.

Spurs are 10 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea in the title race.
