Paul Merson states prediction for Tottenham v Swansea

Paul Merson looks ahead to Tottenham's clash with Swansea on Saturday afternoon

Paul Merson is backing Tottenham to claim a 3-0 win over Swansea City in the Premier League at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites head into the game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week.

Spurs have been buoyed this week after the club managed to tie down Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen to new long-term contracts.

And former Arsenal star Merson is expecting Spurs to have too much for the visitors at White Hart Lane this weekend.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, former Gunner Merson said: “Swansea last weekend, blimey! Every time there was a corner or free-kick the referee should have just given a goal. It was a shambles of a match. It was entertaining but to think that Swansea have turned a corner would be madness.

“I’ve got to go with Tottenham here. For 44 minutes against Chelsea they were phenomenal. However, they’ve only won one of their last 10 games – that’s a bit of a worry. That said, this looks a very winnable match.”

Tottenham are looking to bounce back from a disappointing November in which they were knocked out of the Champions League.
