Watch: Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka bids emotional farewell to his former club
Granit Xhaka said goodbye to Borussia Monchengladbach fans for a final time this week
Granit Xhaka has admitted that he was overcome with emotion as he said farewell to Borussia Monchengladbach for a final time this week.
The Swiss midfielder completed a transfer to Arsenal from the Bundesliga side over the summer but never had the chance to say goodbye to the German club’s fans due to his participation in Euro 2016.
Xhaka has been adapting to life in the Premier League following his move to the north London club and has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal team under Arsene Wenger.
However, the 24-year-old was clearly emotional as he saluted his former club’s fans on the pitch last week as he said goodbye to the Bundesliga side for a final time.
Xhaka posted the video above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Yesterday was the official and very emotional farewell from Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“I sincerely thank you for the priceless and continuous support!”
Xhaka will be hoping to help Arsenal return to winning ways in the Premier League on Boxing Day when the Gunners host Stoke City at The Emirates.
