Michael Owen states his prediction for Watford v Tottenham

Michael Owen looks ahead to Tottenham's trip to Watford on New Year's Day

Michael Owen is expecting to see Tottenham continue their title push by beating Watford on New Year’s Day.

Spurs continued their good form in the top flight by beating Southampton 4-1 on Wednesday night to keep themselves in the hunt for a top-four finish and within 10 points of leaders Chelsea.

The Lilywhites are aiming to go one better this season and once again finish in the top four after they ended up third in the table last term.

The north London side are currently in fifth place in the table and a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal heading into the final round of fixtures of 2016.

And former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Owen does not see Watford causing Spurs any problems on New Year’s Day at Vicarage Road.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “The Hornets have never beaten Spurs in the Premier League and I can’t see past an away win for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Vicarage Road in the opening game of 2017.”
