Mark Lawrenson states prediction for West Brom v Man United
The former Liverpool defender is backing Manchester United to secure a third successive Premier League victory
Mark Lawrenson is confident Manchester United can secure a third successive Premier League victory when Jose Mourinho’s side make the trip to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday evening.
The Red Devils were 2-1 winners against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night as the 20-time English champions managed to keep the pressure on Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the top-four face.
Scotland international James McArthur cancelled out Paul Pogba’s opener in the English capital before Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted an added-time winner to seal three points for the visitors in dramatic fashion.
Manchester United were 1-0 winners against Tottenham at Old Trafford last weekend thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first-half strike before the Armenia international picked up an injury problem.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is confident that the Red Devils can ease to victory over Tony Pulis’ in-form West Brom side at The Hawthorns in Saturday’s late kick-off in the Premier League.
“West Brom are seventh, only one place behind Manchester United, so hats off to the Baggies because a lot of people tipped them to get relegated,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I am not sure why you would ever predict a team that Tony Pulis is in charge of to go down. Yes, they made a poor start to the campaign but he was always on top of the situation.
“I don’t see Pulis winning this one, though. There is a little bit more to United right now, and things are starting to come together for them a little bit.”
Manchester United finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season.
