Ian Wright states prediction for West Ham v Arsenal
The Arsenal legend believes Arsene Wenger's side can capitalise on West Ham's poor run of form
Ian Wright is confident Arsenal can capitalise on West Ham’s poor form and ease to victory at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Gunners will be looking to record successive Premier League victories to keep pace with the leading pack after their 3-1 win against Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend.
Arsene Wenger’s side crashed out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night after a surprise 2-0 loss to Southampton at the Emirates Stadium to end Arsenal’s 19-game unbeaten run.
However, the Gunners still haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 4-3 defeat by title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium at the start of the 2016-17 season.
West Ham lost 4-1 to Manchester United in their EFL Cup quarter-final just three days after a 1-1 draw with the Red Devils at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
Former Arsenal and West Ham striker Wright is backing the Gunners to make it successive top-flight victories in Saturday evening’s London derby.
“It’s a good time to play West Ham,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“Their confidence is low. They’re not having as many shots as I’d like – although the shots that they’re having have gone in. They’ve had four shots on target and scored four. I’m going to go with Arsenal to beat them.”
Arsenal are in fourth place and three points behind leaders Chelsea.
