Zlatan Ibrahimovic sends honest message to Man United stars

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Manchester United have plenty of work to do to improve their form this season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told his Manchester United team-mates that there is plenty of room for improvement this season.

The Red Devils have made a mixed start to the campaign following Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.

Expectations were high at Old Trafford heading into the new Premier League season following the arrival of Mourinho and the signings of Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the summer.

However, the Red Devils struggled to find consistent form in the top flight as they slipped a considerable distance behind Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Mourinho’s men have shown some significant improvements in recent weeks and Ibrahimovic has warned his team-mates that they must continue to improve if they want to achieve their objective of winning a trophy this season.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN FC, Ibrahimovic said: “We had our moments where the results haven’t been what they should have been after good performances, but we are still there and we have been closing the gap.

“So hopefully the other teams can do some mistakes and close the gap even more and push the gap between other teams.

“We have no excuses, we are here for what we are able to want and do and that’s win a title.

“The last period has been good and hopefully we can continue with this winning streak, we are working very hard, we all go in the same direction where we want to win, but to do that you need to win the games and work hard and that’s what we are doing.

“So yeah, I’m happy, but I could be happier.”
