Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Why I’m so happy for this Man United player
Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals his delight at seeing Bastian Schweinsteiger make a return to the Manchester United team
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he was delighted to see Bastian Schweinsteiger makes his first appearance of the season for Manchester United last week.
The German midfielder has struggled to break into Jose Mourinho’s team since the Portuguese coach’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
However, the World Cup winner was given his first run-out in a United shirt on Wednesday night when he came off the bench during the Red Devils’ 4-1 win over West Ham United in the EFL Cup quarter-final clash at Old Trafford.
Schweinsteiger’s future at Old Trafford has inevitably been a source of speculation due to his lack of playing time with the Premier League club.
However, United’s summer signing Ibrahimovic expressed his delight at seeing the veteran midfielder handed a chance to impress in the EFL Cup last week.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Ibrahimovic said: “I’m happy for him. I’m happy because the situation for him hasn’t been easy.
“He has been working hard, he’s kept patient and mentally it’s not easy – especially when you have had a career just like his.
“I have nothing but respect for him and super happy that he’s back.
“And also the person is fantastic, so happy to see him back on the field and you could see the crowd was happy also.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
