Alexis Sanchez opens up about what makes Arsenal midfielder special
The Arsenal forward discusses what makes Mesut Ozil such a special player
Alexis Sanchez has explained why he consider Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil to be a special player.
The Chile international and World Cup winner have established themselves as Arsenal’s two key players under Arsene Wenger in the past two seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners duo have managed to forge a strong partnership together and helped the north London side finish in second place in the Premier League table last season.
Sanchez has scored 15 times and has made seven assists in 22 appearances in the Premier League in the 2016-17 campaign, while Ozil has contributed five goals and four assists in the top flight this season.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website about the Germany midfielder, Sanchez explained why he considers Ozil to be a really special player.
“We do respect each other. That’s the way it should be between players and team-mates. We have to respect each other and do our best on the pitch,” Sanchez said.
“What makes Mesut such a special player? He is a quality player, willing to win all the time. He wants to prove his quality in every game and every training session. That makes him special. He is a World Cup winner with a winning mentality and he’s still eager to win more.”
Sanchez moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from La Liga giants Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Gunners are in second place in the Premier League table but eight points adrift of current leaders Chelsea.
