The Spanish midfielder is a popular figure amongst Manchester United fans and has earned a regular spot in the Red Devils’ first team under Jose Mourinho this season.
Herrera has been performing well in central midfield alongside Michael Carrick and Paul Pogba in recent weeks as Manchester United have enjoyed an upturn in form under their new boss.
Wayne Rooney is the current Manchester United captain, although the England international has been sidelined in recent weeks with an injury.
Asked by one fan during a Twitter Q&A whether he can see himself as a future Manchester United captain, Herrera was clear in his reply.

Manchester United are currently gearing up for the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash against Hull City on Tuesday night.
