Ander Herrera: Why I will never forget this Man United moment

Ander Herrera reflects on Manchester United's FA Cup triumph at Wembley last season

Ander Herrera has admitted that he will never forget winning the FA Cup with Manchester United last season.

The Red Devils lifted the trophy at Wembley back in May 2016 in what turned out to be Louis van Gaal’s last game in charge of the club.

Manchester United came from a goal down against Crystal Palace at Wembley as they finished the season on a high following the disappointment of their fifth-placed finish in the Premier League.

And Herrera has revealed just what a special moment it was for him to lift his first trophy as a Manchester United player.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website before Saturday’s third-round clash against Reading at Old Trafford, Herrera said: “It’s a fantastic trophy and fantastic tournament.

“I will never forget winning it because it was my first trophy with United at Wembley.

“It was a fantastic day for us, we scored in the last five or 10 minutes, Jesse [Lingard] scored a fantastic goal, we had 10 men… it was a special day.

“When you think about the way you want to win then of course you want to win earlier and be more relaxed at the end, but the feeling after the game when you score in the last few minutes is fantastic, especially with 10 men against a good side.”

Manchester United head into the game in good form and having won their last six games in the Premier League on the spin.
