Antonio Conte delivers honest assessment on Diego Costa at Chelsea
Antonio Conte delivers an update for Chelsea fans on Diego Costa's future at the west London side...
Antonio Conte has insisted that Diego Costa is fully committed to Chelsea and has no intention of seeking a move away from the west London club.
The Brazilian-born striker’s situation has been a relentless source of speculation in recent days after he was left out of the Chelsea squad to face Leicester City last weekend.
However, Costa trained with his team-mates at Cobham last week and will be included in the squad for Chelsea’s clash with Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Costa’s future at the club had been called into question last week amid reports of big-money offers from China.
However, Chelsea boss Conte has moved to reassure Blues fans that the Brazilian’s future is at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday morning, Conte said: “The player wants to stay at Chelsea, he’s very happy to play with us.
“This idea (leaving) is far in his mind, he’s happy to stay here and that’s the most important thing for us. I don’t see any problem with him.
“It’s important we face the next four months in a very strong way, focus on the present and not look too far ahead.
“Diego is a good player, a good person and now he’s only focused on Chelsea, playing with us and continuing to help us. He only missed one game, I’m sure about his commitment and his will to fight for this team until the end to try to win the title.”
Chelsea are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table as they prepare for their clash against Hull City on Sunday.
