Antonio Conte suggests that he could be set to play Ruben Loftus-Cheek more often for Chelsea this season
Antonio Conte has hinted that he could be set to play Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a more regular basis for Chelsea this season following Oscar’s exit.
The 20-year-old midfielder came on as a late substitute for the Blues on Saturday night as Conte’s men secured a 3-0 victory over Leicester City to keep their Premier League title bid on track.
Loftus-Cheek has found his first-team opportunities limited this season and his run-out on Saturday was only his second Premier League appearance of the campaign.
He has made five appearances in total for the Blues so far this season but following Oscar’s move to China in the January transfer window, Conte has hinted that he could be set to play Loftus-Cheek more often for Chelsea this season.
He also stressed that summer signing Michy Batshuayi remains a good options for him.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website after Saturday’s win, Conte said: “I trust all my players. Ruben is a player with great quality. Now I think after Oscar left he could have the right space to show me and the club his potential.
“And also for Michy it’s important to work this way, to show me they deserve to play.
“I have zero problem to play with young players.”
Chelsea now turn their attentions towards their home clash against Hull City at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
