Antonio Conte has praised Chelsea’s response to pressure from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur after Saturday’s 3-0 win at Leicester City.
Spurs kicked off the Premier League action with a resounding 4-0 win against West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane thanks to Harry Kane’s hat-trick which moved Tottenham to within four points of the leaders.
Arsenal matched their north London rivals’s scoreline with a 4-0 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium thanks to two own goals and efforts from Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez.
Chelsea held their nerve at the King Power Stadium after a 3-0 win against the defending Premier League champions Leicester City courtesy of goals from Marcos Alonso and Pedro Rodriguez.
Speaking at his post-match media conference at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening, Conte praised his Chelsea players for holding their nerve at Leicester after their title rivals put his Blues squad on pressure.
“Now, we started the second part of the season, we played the second game. Every game now the points are very heavy for all the teams. We stay on the top of the table and if you win you put pressure on the other teams,” Conte said.
“We started this game with great pressure after the Tottenham and Arsenal victories. We must show good experience to manage this situation. In every game it will be very important to not lose points.”
Chelsea won 13 successive Premier League games before a 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
