Antonio Conte provides latest Chelsea transfer update on goalkeeper
The Chelsea manager rubbishes reports linking Thibaut Courtois with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid
Antonio Conte has poured cold water on talk of Thibaut Courtois leaving Chelsea in the January transfer window.
The Belgium international has been in impressive form in the 2016-17 campaign so far after the shot stopper produced some vital saves to maintain their winning record.
Chelsea have managed to win their last 13 Premier League games after their 4-2 win over Stoke City in the top flight on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants and Champions League holders Real Madrid after having spent three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of the visit of Stoke on Saturday afternoon, Conte provided an update on the future of Courtois ahead of the January transfer window.
“I think it’s not important to clarify the situation,” said Conte.
“He stays with us and this is the most important thing. The other situations are only speculation.
“Thibaut is, for me, one of the best – if not the best – goalkeepers in the world.
“This season he’s playing very well, and you can see that he’s not only very good with his hands but also with his feet.
“Yes, I think he’s a complete goalkeeper. He’s a model goalkeeper.”
Chelsea started the weekend six points clear of second-placed Liverpool in the title race.
The Blues won the Premier League title in 2014-15 under Jose Mourinho.
