Antonio Conte reacts to Kurt Zouma’s performance in Chelsea v Peterborough
Antonio Conte was thrilled to see Kurt Zouma back in action for Chelsea against Peterborough on Sunday
Antonio Conte heaped praise on Kurt Zouma and hailed a fantastic moment for the defender after he helped Chelsea beat Peterborough in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The 22-year-old Frenchman played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea secured an impressive 4-1 win over Peterborough at Stamford Bridge to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
It was Zouma’s first appearance of the season for the Blues after missing the second half of last season with a serious knee injury.
Zouma will now be hoping to fight for a place in the Chelsea first-team in the second half of this season as he bids to help Antonio Conte’s men win the Premier League.
And Conte was thrilled to be able to call upon the Frenchman and that he came through unscathed during Chelsea’s victory in the FA Cup.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Conte said: “Zouma came back after 11 months and played 90 minutes, which is fantastic for him, his family and the club.”
Chelsea are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
