Antonio Conte reacts to Marcos Alonso’s display in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Leicester

Antonio Conte was particularly pleased with Marcos Alonso's performance for Chelsea against Leicester

Antonio Conte heaped praise on man of the match Marcos Alonso after the Spaniard helped to fire Chelsea to a 3-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday night.

The Spanish defender was in fine form for the Blues and scored once in each half to add to Pedro Rodriguez’s goal and send the west London side on their way to victory.

Alonso has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers since arriving at Stamford Bridge as one of Conte’s first signings last summer.

And the Italian admits that he has been thrilled with the impact Alonso has had at Chelsea this season since his arrival at the club.

Speaking to BT Sport after Saturday’s game, Conte said of Alonso: “Marcos is playing very well but not only today. I am pleased for him because today he did a great performance and helped the team a lot.

“I’m pleased for all my players, not only for Marcos, but he for sure played very well. He has been playing very well from when he arrived at Chelsea.”

Chelsea are currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester United’s crunch clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
